BBC Bite size is also quite useful for general music vocab and understanding, but doesn't cover the areas of study they need.
KEY STAGE 3
Music - Milestone Assessment 2017-2018
Music is taught in mixed ability tutor groups. Students have 2 lessons per fortnight.
Bridging unit – focus on the elements of music.
Keyboard skills – Developing keyboard and performance skills.
Bronze arts award – students work towards achieving their bronze level arts award.
Musical clichés – exploring how music is used to portray ideas.
Pictures at an exhibition – composing music for image.
Experimental music – exploring experimental vocal and performance techniques.
Variations – exploring ways to develop musical ideas.
The Blues – exploring the blues and improvisation.
Stomp – exploring rhythmic cycles and patterns.

KEY STAGE 4 - GCSE Exam board OCR. Revision guides from Finance £7
Music is a popular GCSE subject at The Willink School. Following the Edexcel specification students further develop their musical skills through listening, performance and composition. Students study a number of set works from world music, popular music, contemporary music and classical music; which form the basis of the listening exam. Students must also complete 2 compositions, and a solo and ensemble performance, which make up 60% of the final GCSE.
KS5 AS & A2
The music department offers Music and Music Technology at A level.
Music A level takes a deeper and more analytical look at listening, composing and performing, offering a challenging and stimulating course for developing musicians. Students study a variety of set works in depth, develop composition techniques leading to a final composition, and produce a 6 minute (12 – 15 minutes at A2) performance on their chosen instrument or voice. We follow the Edexcel specification.
The Music Technology course offers an exciting ‘hands on’ programme for those who have an interest in recording technology. The course gives students the chance to develop recording, sequencing and arranging skills.
